Rockstar Energy — XR Video Booth
We designed and built a touring XR studio inside a shipping container for Rockstar Energy's activation at a premier skate competition. Camera capture, real-time Unreal Engine compositing, synchronized DMX lighting, a welcoming kiosk interface, and an automated content delivery pipeline.

Shipt — Bundle Shopping Architecture
We led the engineering effort to transition Shipt from single-order shopping to “bundles” — enabling a shopper to fulfill multiple orders, for multiple members, from multiple stores in a single trip. The work spanned the shopper app, member app, and both backend APIs over roughly two years.

NPR — Audio Production and Archival Workflows
Multi-year engagement supporting multiple teams across the organization. Built and maintained transcription, transcoding, and archival tools, including experimental audio fingerprinting and LLM explorations.

Live Nation — Festival Mobile Apps
We built the mapping, lineup, and AR features for Live Nation's festival apps — from the mobile client through the admin interface to the backend and infrastructure. Supported festivals including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.

We know when to stop, and when to push for greatness.
Shipping fast is easy. Shipping something worth shipping — and knowing the difference — is not. A touring XR booth that runs unattended all day, with auto-restart on every critical component and a kiosk UI simple enough for field staff to operate. A two-year rework of Shipt's core shopping model so a single trip could serve multiple members across multiple stores. Archival and transcription tools at NPR that producers rely on without thinking about them.
The details change from project to project; the instinct doesn't. Cut what doesn't matter so you can obsess over what does — the pre-tour shake-down run, the operator flow, the last ten percent of polish that separates “it works” from “it's memorable.” That discipline is the whole job.

A small, focused practice.
Led by Brandon Johnson, based in Minneapolis.
Brandon started the practice in 2018 after three years as a research engineer at space150, where he developed a love for fast-paced, high-quality, client service work and shipped his first React Native apps. He studied journalism and computer science at the University of Minnesota — a combination that still shapes his work to this day.
We bring in trusted collaborators when projects call for it, but most of the time it's a small, focused team that owns the whole process.
